01 — Background

About Rahman School

Rahman School is an online Quran and Arabic education institute, established in 2015 and administered from Cairo, Egypt. It provides live, one-to-one online instruction in Quran reading, Tajweed, Quran memorisation (Hifz), Arabic and Islamic Studies, to both children and adults.

The school works principally with students in English-speaking countries, many of whom are learning to read and recite in Arabic as a language they do not speak at home. Every class is delivered remotely and individually rather than to a group.

09 — For journalists and researchers

Potential Editorial & Research Topics

Areas in which Rahman School holds direct classroom experience and can contribute background, context or data.

  • Learning to read a language you do not speak

How children in English-speaking households are taught to read and recite Arabic script without Arabic being spoken at home.

  • What Quran memorisation actually involves

The structure of a Hifz programme, realistic timescales, daily revision load, and why completion rates are low.

  • Tajweed as an oral discipline

Recitation rules are transmitted by ear, teacher to student. What that transmission requires, and what changes when it happens over video.

  • Ijazah and chains of transmission

What the certification is, how it is granted, why the chain matters, and how it is assessed.

  • The move of one-to-one religious instruction online since 2015

What shifted, what it made possible, and the practical limits that remain.

  • Teaching Arabic script and phonetics to non-native speakers

Common points of failure in early literacy, and the sequencing used to address them.

  • Safeguarding and parental involvement in one-to-one online tuition

Scheduling, supervision, teacher vetting and the role parents play.

  • Access where no local teacher exists

What remote delivery changes for families without access to in-person instruction.

10 — Interviews

Interview & Expert Commentary

Rahman School can make qualified educators available to journalists for interviews, background briefings and expert commentary on the subjects listed above. Contributors can speak to classroom practice in online Quran and Arabic instruction, Tajweed and recitation methodology, memorisation programmes, and the teaching of Arabic to students who do not speak it.

Interviews and expert commentary can be supported in English and Arabic, and arranged remotely by video or telephone. Requests should include your outlet, the subject, the intended format and your deadline.
