The Quran tells us to seek knowledge. But for many Muslim families in the UK, USA, and Canada, finding quality Islamic education is a real challenge. Weekend madrasas are often overcrowded. Local teachers may not be available. And most parents do not have time to teach their children everything they need to know.
Rahman School’s Islamic Studies programme brings a qualified Al-Azhar teacher directly to your home. Your child (or you) learns Seerah, Fiqh, Aqeedah, and more — in live one-to-one classes that are engaging, age-appropriate, and grounded in authentic sources.
- Seerah, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Tafsir, Hadith, and Duas
- Age-appropriate courses for kids, teens, and adults
- Authentic sources (Quran and Sunnah)
- Qualified Al-Azhar graduate teachers
- Male and female teachers available

What Your Family Will Learn
Our Islamic Studies programme covers the essential knowledge every Muslim needs. Your teacher will tailor the curriculum to the student’s age, level, and interests.
Seerah (Life of the Prophet)
Learn the complete story of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) — from his birth in Makkah to the establishment of the first Muslim community in Madinah. For children, we tell the Seerah as a story with lessons they can apply in their daily lives. For adults, we study the events in depth with references to authentic Hadith sources.
Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)
Learn the practical rulings of Islam that guide your daily life: how to perform Wudu and Salah correctly, the rules of fasting, Zakat, Hajj, and everyday matters like food, clothing, and social interactions. We teach Fiqh in a way that is practical and easy to apply — not theoretical and overwhelming.
Aqeedah (Islamic Creed and Beliefs)
Understand the core beliefs of Islam: Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah), the Prophets, the Angels, the Books, the Day of Judgement, and Qadr (divine decree). A strong Aqeedah is the foundation of everything else in Islam. We teach it clearly, with evidence from the Quran and Sunnah.
Tafsir (Quran Explanation)
Go beyond reading and memorisation. Understand what the Quran is actually saying. Your teacher will explain the meaning, context, and lessons of the Surahs you are studying. This brings the Quran to life in a way that reading a translation alone cannot.
Hadith Studies
Study selected Hadith from the core collections (Bukhari, Muslim, and the Forty Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi). Understand the meaning, the context, and how to apply the Prophet’s teachings in your modern life.
Daily Duas and Adhkar
Learn the Duas for every situation — waking up, sleeping, eating, travelling, entering the mosque, and more. For children, we teach them to understand what they are saying, not just repeat the words. We also cover the morning and evening Adhkar.
Islamic Studies for Kids (Ages 5-12)
Children need Islamic knowledge presented in a way they can understand and enjoy. Our kids’ programme includes:
- Stories of the Prophets — Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all), told as engaging stories with clear moral lessons
- Pillars of Islam and Iman — explained simply with examples from a child’s daily life
- How to pray — step-by-step Salah instruction with meanings of what they say
- Good manners (Adab) — honesty, kindness, respect for parents, care for animals, and being a good Muslim at school
- Duas for daily life — eating, sleeping, leaving the house, and more
- Ramadan and Eid — understanding the meaning behind the celebrations
We make learning Islam fun. Our teachers use stories, questions, real-life examples, and gentle encouragement to help children build their identity as proud, knowledgeable Muslims.
Combine with Quran classes for kids for a complete Islamic education.
Islamic Studies for Teens (Ages 13-17)
Teenagers face unique challenges — peer pressure, questions about identity, and exposure to conflicting ideas online. Our teen programme helps them:
- Build confidence in their Muslim identity with strong knowledge
- Understand the “why” behind Islamic rulings (not just the “what”)
- Discuss modern challenges through an Islamic lens
- Study the Seerah and draw leadership lessons from the Prophet’s life
- Prepare for a lifelong relationship with Islamic learning
Classes are respectful, open, and encourage questions. We want teenagers to think, not just memorise.
Islamic Studies for Adults
Whether you are a lifelong Muslim wanting to deepen your knowledge, a parent who wants to teach their children from a position of strength, or a new Muslim building your foundation, our adult programme covers:
- Structured Seerah — chronological study with authentic references
- Practical Fiqh — focused on the issues that affect your daily life
- Aqeedah — clear, evidence-based understanding of core beliefs
- Tafsir — surah-by-surah or thematic study, your choice
- Hadith — selected collections with explanation and application
You can study one subject or combine several. Your teacher will build a learning plan around your goals and your time.
Why Learn Islamic Studies with Rahman School?
Authentic Knowledge from Authentic Sources
Our teachers are graduates of Al-Azhar University — the world’s oldest and most respected Islamic institution. They teach from the Quran and Sunnah, using established classical texts and verified Hadith. You will never receive personal opinions presented as Islamic rulings.
One-to-One Means You Can Ask Anything
In a group class, you might feel embarrassed to ask a question. In a one-to-one class, there is no judgment. Ask anything. Your teacher will answer with patience, evidence, and respect.
Combined with Quran for a Complete Education
Many of our students study Islamic Studies alongside their Quran classes. Your child can have Quran Tajweed on Monday and Wednesday, and Islamic Studies on Saturday. Everything under one school, with teachers who communicate with each other about your progress.
Frequently Asked Questions About Islamic Studies Online
What age can my child start Islamic Studies?
Children can start from age 5 with our stories-based programme. At this age, we focus on stories of the Prophets, basic Duas, and simple Islamic manners. More structured Fiqh and Aqeedah study begins around age 8-9.
Can I choose which subjects to study?
Yes. You can focus on a single subject (for example, only Seerah or only Fiqh) or create a mixed programme that covers several subjects. Your teacher will help you decide based on your goals and interests.
Is this suitable for new Muslims?
Absolutely. We welcome and celebrate new Muslims. Your teacher will start from the very basics — the five pillars, how to pray, how to make Wudu — and build from there at your pace. There is no assumption of prior knowledge and no judgment.
What sources and textbooks do you use?
Our teachers use established Islamic texts including Riyad As-Salihin, the Forty Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi, Tafsir Ibn Kathir (simplified), and age-appropriate Seerah resources. All content is grounded in the Quran and authentic Sunnah. We provide materials digitally.
Can my child study Islamic Studies and Quran together?
Yes. This is actually what we recommend. Many families schedule 2-3 Quran classes and 1-2 Islamic Studies classes per week. Your teacher will coordinate the curriculum so the subjects complement each other.
How is this different from weekend madrasa?
Three key differences: (1) one-to-one attention instead of a room of 20 children, (2) teachers who are Al-Azhar graduates rather than volunteer community members, and (3) flexible scheduling that works around your life rather than a fixed Saturday morning. Your child learns more, faster, in a more engaging way.
