Noorani Qaida Online Course — Learn to Read the Quran Step by Step

Noorani Qaida Online Course — Learn to Read the Quran Step by Step

Live one-to-one Quran reading classes with qualified male and female tutors. Kids and adult beginners welcome.

What is the Noorani Qaida?

The Noorani Qaida is a foundational method that helps absolute beginners learn to read the Quran’s Arabic script step by step. It starts with individual Arabic letters and gradually builds up through pronunciation, joining letters, short and long vowels, and basic reading practice with short Quranic verses.

It is designed for Muslims of any age who do not yet read Arabic — children just starting out, adult beginners who never had the chance to learn, and reverts to Islam who want to read the Quran themselves. You do not need to know any Arabic, and you do not need any prior experience.

At Rahman School, the Noorani Qaida course is delivered through live one-to-one online classes, so your tutor can work at your pace, correct your pronunciation in real time, and build a strong foundation before you move on to fluent Quran reading and Tajweed.

Who Should Take This Course?

Noorani Qaida for Kids

The Noorani Qaida is one of the most common starting points for Muslim children learning the Quran. Younger children begin by recognising Arabic letters, then build toward correct pronunciation, vowels, and reading short verses.

Each session is one-to-one, so your child gets undivided attention from their tutor — no waiting their turn in a group class, no falling behind. You can choose times that fit around school, and you can request a male or female tutor when booking.

Noorani Qaida for Adult Beginners

It is never too late to start. Many adults come to Rahman School wanting to learn Quran reading from the very basics — sometimes for the first time in their lives. The course meets you where you are. Your tutor will assess your level in the free trial classes and start from the right point.

Sessions are private and one-to-one, so there is no awkwardness about being in a beginner level alongside children. Many adult students prefer evening or weekend slots.

Noorani Qaida for Reverts and New Muslims

If you are new to Islam and want to learn how to read the Quran, the Noorani Qaida is a strong place to begin. You do not need to know any Arabic letters or terminology — your tutor will guide you from the absolute beginning, with patience and care.

Rahman School offers female tutors for sisters who prefer a same-gender teacher, and male tutors for brothers or families with a preference.

What You'll Learn — Step-by-Step Quran Reading Foundations

Students are guided step by step through Noorani Qaida-style foundational reading lessons. The course covers the building blocks every Quran reader needs, taught in a clear progression:

StageWhat you’ll learn
1Arabic letters — recognising every letter of the Arabic alphabet
2Letter pronunciation — making the correct sound of each letter from the right place in the mouth and throat
3Joining letters — how letters change shape when they connect into words
4Harakat — short vowel marks (Fatha, Kasra, Damma) and how they change the sound of a letter
5Madd — long vowel sounds and when to extend a sound while reading
6Sukoon — the sign that shows a letter has no vowel
7Shaddah — the sign that doubles a letter’s sound
8Tanween — the sign that adds an “n” sound at the end of a word
9Basic reading practice — putting it all together by reading short Quranic verses

This is the same foundation that traditional Quran teachers have used for generations — taught one-to-one online so your tutor can correct mistakes early and build good reading habits from the start.

How Long Does the Noorani Qaida Take?

There is no fixed timeline that fits every student. Every student progresses differently. Some begin recognising letters quickly; others take more time. Progress depends on age, current level, class frequency, practice, and consistency.

The course is structured so you move at the right pace for you. What matters most is steady, regular practice. Two or three short sessions a week, supported by short daily review at home, builds reading ability gradually and reliably.

Your Pathway After Noorani Qaida

Noorani Qaida is the first step. Most students go on to one of two paths:

Step 1 — Noorani Qaida (you are here). Build the foundation: letters, pronunciation, vowels, and basic reading.

Step 2 — Tajweed. Once you can read confidently, our Online Tajweed Classes take your reading to the next level — refining the rules of pronunciation so you recite the Quran the way it was revealed.

Step 3 — Hifz. When you are ready to begin memorisation, our Quran Memorization (Hifz) Classes guide you through the Quran one portion at a time.

You can also move into Arabic study with our Arabic Classes for Beginners — understanding the Arabic language helps you connect more deeply with the meaning of what you recite.
