The virtue of Surah At Tin (Arabic: سورة التين) written Surah Al Teen is great, and its status is high, and if you ask: What are the benefits of reciting Surah Al Teen? What do we benefit from Al tin surah for children and adults? We say: It is like all the other chapters of the Quran, and Sura tin has no merit over other Surahs, and the merit of reciting Surah Al Teen is like the superiority of reciting any Surah of the Quran. However, sura tin, despite its shortness and a small number of verses, was distinguished by its themes that discussed issues of importance like:

  • Honoring the human being; By improving his creation, and making him in the best image.
  • Explanation of the rebellious man’s descent to the bottom of the lowly; So ominously sinning.
  • Divine justice is the statement of the reward of the unbelievers and the reward of the believers.

Why was surah at tin revealed?

Scholars of exegesis have cited some reasons for the revelation of some verses from Surat Al-Tin, which are as follows:

  • Allah Almighty’s saying: (Verily, We have created man in the best of stature)

(لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ)

It was narrated that this noble verse was revealed in Al-Waleed bin Al-Mughirah, or Kalada bin Usayd, in response to them after they deny the resurrection after death, according to the measure of their remembrance. In creating the human being with the best appearance and the best condition.

  • The saying of Allah – the Highest -: (Then We returned him to the lowest of the lowly)

قول الله تعالى  (ثُمَّ رَدَدْناهُ أَسْفَلَ سافِلِينَ)

This noble verse was revealed about a people who were at the time of the Messenger of Allah -PBUH- so they grew old and became dementia and affliction in their minds, so this verse was revealed from Allah -the Highest- to give them an excuse. -Exalted be He- the reckoning will be done for them as they were before their minds were gone.

Where was surah al teen revealed?

Surah Al Teen was revealed in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. It is one of the Meccan Surahs of the Quran that was revealed before the migration of the Messenger of Allah -may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him- according to the opinion of most scholars, and it is the twenty-eighth chapter in the order of the revelation of the Holy Quran. The period between the migration of the Companions to Abyssinia, and the incident of the journey of the Messenger of Allah -PBUH- to Bayt Al-Maqdis.

When was surah al teen revealed?

Surah al teenh was revealed after Surat al-Buruj (سورة البروج).

And it is one of the surahs that Allah Almighty swore at the beginning of whatever He willed of His creation. And it is revealed in Mecca before the migration of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Why the surah was named at tin?

Surah At Tin– was named by this name in relation to the word with which the surah opened, as Allah Almighty swore by the fig, but there is a dispute about including the letter “waw” with the name. Some of the commentators have the name: Surah At Tin– without the Waw Section, by analogy with the naming of Surat Al-Baqarah, and the commentators differed about the meaning of the fig by which Allah Almighty swore. And this saying was narrated under the authority of Qatada.

In which para is surah at tin?

The 95th Surah of the Holy Quran is At Tin Surah. It translates as “The Figure.” (سورة التين). It has eight verses. And its position in Juz 30. So Surat Al-Tin falls in the thirtieth and last part and the sixtieth party.

Is surah al teen makki or madani?

At tin, surah is one of the Meccan surahs that were revealed in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in the Holy Quran.

What is the main theme of Surah At Tin?

The main truth that surah teen presents is the truth of the orthodox nature upon which Allah created man, and the uprightness of its nature with the nature of faith, and bringing it with him to its predestined perfection. And man’s decline and descent when he deviates from the integrity of instinct and the integrity of the faith.

And Allah swears an oath on this fact by olives and figs in Quran, and Mount Sinai, and this faithful country. Surah teen deals with two prominent themes: Allah Almighty’s honor for the human, and the issue of belief in reckoning and reward.

Surah at tin benefits

Surat Al-Tin contains many lessons that explain to the reader the surah. Among these lessons are the following:

  • Allah swore by olives and figs in Quran, the two blessed trees that Allah Almighty blessed in Bayt Al-Maqdis because the land of Hijaz does not grow in these two blessed trees.
  • Allah completed his oath at Mount At-Tur, located in Sinai, on which Allah entrusted Musa, peace be upon him.
  • Then Allah swore to his sacred house in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, which occurred in his saying, “And this is the honest country.”
  • The blessed verses highlight the creation of man in the best way from other beings, the lessons learned from Surat Al-Tin, where the mind gave him a clear distinction between right and wrong, good and evil, so he has the choice in this.
  •  Allah created man on the natural instinct of faith, “the nature of monotheism,” so he gave him reason to analyze matters and take the causes.
  • Allah created man from water and dust, and his last abode will be in dust and water to meet Allah with his works.
  • Allah is the best ruler and the best of them. He is justice and the bond of justice and judgment and the bond of judgment and in his greatness and wisdom the universe will be manifested, and Allah’s justice will be manifested on the Day when the truth is right on the Day of Resurrection.

Surah Al Teen Tafseer

 بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ١

(1. By At-Tin and Az-Zaytun.)

Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn `Abbas that what is meant by At-Tin is the Masjid of Nuh that was built upon Mount Al-Judi. Mujahid said, “It is this fig that you have.”

(By Az-Zaytun.) Ka`b Al-Ahbar, Qatadah, Ibn Zayd and others have said, “It is the Masjid of Jerusalem (Bayt Al-Maqdis).” Mujahid and `Ikrimah said, “It is this olive which you press (to extract the oil).”

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ

(By Tur Sinin.) Ka`b Al-Ahbar and several others have said, “It is the mountain upon which Allah spoke to Musa.”

وَهَذَا الْبَلَدِ الأَمِينِ

(By this city of security.) meaning Makkah. This was said by Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Al-Hasan, Ibrahim An-Nakha`i, Ibn Zayd and Ka`b Al-Ahbar. There is no difference of opinion about this. Some of the Imams have said that these are three different places and that Allah sent a Messenger to each of them from the Leading Messengers, who delivered the Great Codes of Law. The first place is that of the fig and the olive, which was Jerusalem, where Allah sent `Isa bin Maryam. The second place is Mount Sinin, which is Mount Sinai where Allah spoke to Musa bin `Imran. The third place in Makkah, and it is the city of security where whoever enters is safe. It is also the city to which Muhammad was sent. They have said that these three places are mentioned at the end of the Tawrah. The verse says, “Allah has come from Mount Sinai – meaning the one upon which Allah spoke to Musa bin `Imran, and shined from Sa`ir – meaning the mountain of Jerusalem from which Allah sent `Isa, and appeared from the mountains of Faran – meaning the mountains of Makkah from which Allah sent `Isa, and appeared from the mountains of Faran – meaning the mountains of Makkah from which Allah sent Muhammad.” Thus, He mentioned them in order to inform them based on their order of existence in time. This is why He swore by a noble place, then by a nobler place, and then by a place that is the nobler than both of them.

As the Result of that Allah says,

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ

(Verily, We created man in the best form.) This is the subject being sworn about, and it is that Allah created man in the best image and form, standing upright with straight limbs that He beautified.

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ

(Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low.) meaning, to the Hellfire. This was said by Mujahid, Abu Al-`Aliyah, Al-Hasan, Ibn Zayd and others. Then after this attractiveness and beauty, their destination will be to the Hellfire if they disobey Allah and believe the Messengers. This is why Allah says,

 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ

(Save those who believe and do righteous deeds.) Some have said,

 ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَـٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَـٰفِلِينَ

(Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low.) “This means decrepit old age.” This has been reported by Ibn `Abbas and `Ikrimah. `Ikrimah even said, “Whoever gathers the Quran (i.e., he memorizes it all), then he will not be returned to decrepit old age.” Ibn Jarir preferred this explanation. Even if this was the meaning, it would not be correct to exclude the believers from this, because some of them are also overcome by the senility of old age.

 فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونٍ۬

(Then they shall have a reward without end.) meaning, that will not end, as we have mentioned previously. Then Allah says

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ

(Then what causes you to deny) meaning, `O Son of Adam!’

 بَعۡدُ بِٱلدِّينِ

(after this the Recompense) meaning, `in the recompense that will take place in the Hereafter. For indeed you know the beginning, and you know that He Who is able to begin (the creation) is also able to repeat it which is easier. So what is it that makes you deny the final return in the Hereafter after you have known this’ Then Allah says,

 أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحۡكَمِ ٱلۡحَـٰكِمِينَ

(Is not the Allah the best of judges) meaning, `is He, not the best of judges, Who does not oppress or do any injustice to anyone’ And from His justice is that He will establish the Judgment, and He will give retribution to the person who was wronged in this life against whoever wronged him.

Hadith on surah at tin

Nothing, in particular, was authenticated from the Messenger of Allah -PBUH- regarding the merit of this surah, but there are some weak and fabricated narrations that were mentioned about the merit of surah teen, for example:

That the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Teen, Allah will give him two qualities: wellness and certainty as long as he is in the abode of this world, and if he dies, Allah will give him the reward for the number of those who recite this surah.”

surah theen is among a long hadith that is fabricated about the virtues of the surahs of the Quran. Ibn al-Jawzi said about him:

This hadith was divided by Abu Ishaq al-Thalabi in his interpretation, and he mentioned with each surah what belongs to it, and Abu al-Hasan al-Wahidi followed him in that, and I do not like them because they are not from the companions of hadith. Undoubtedly, this hadith on the virtues of the surah is fabricated. That is, it is a fabricated lie against the Messenger of Allah.

How to memorize surah at tin?

As a result, many students abandon their dream of becoming Hafiz. We are going to share with you some fantastic tips on how to memorize surah at tin quickly. These suggestions will come in handy and will make it much easier for you to Hifz Quran Surahs.

Let’s get started on how to quickly memorize a surah.

1) Study in Short Bursts

Focusing your efforts in short bursts is the best way to memorize the Holy Quran. Taking classes that are stretched out over several hours may have a negative impact and cause you to become exhausted. As a result, you won’t be able to learn effectively or remember the Surahs for long.

2) Pretend you’re a teacher

Medical experts show that we remember only about 10% of what we read and 70% of what we say or discuss. Given this fact, it would be best to say what you have memorized.

Assume you’re reciting the verses in front of someone. It will assist you in quickly memorizing the chapters. Not only that but they can be stored in your memory for a longer period of time.

3) Know the meaning of an ayah by carefully reading it

Before attempting to memorize the ayah, read it carefully to ensure that you understand the passage’s meaning. This will also help you memorize the surah because you will be able to rely on the sequence of the passages rather than just memorizing the sounds.

4)Repeat the ayah several times until you have internalized it

While reading, repeat a single ayah at least 5 or 6 times. Then, set your book down or take your gaze away from your computer and try to say it out loud from memory. If you become stuck, consult your Quran or an audio recording.

5) Continue revising so that you don’t forget

When it comes to memorizing the Quran, revision is essential. The majority of people struggle to remember the verses they have already memorized. They don’t pay attention to their revision, which is the root cause.

Keep in mind that if you don’t revise the verses, it’s nearly impossible to remember them. If you want to learn how to memorize surahs quickly, don’t just memorize new verses. Take a day off to go over what you’ve already learned.

Surah Al Teen Summary

Surah At Tin is one of the Meccan surahs that deals with matters of belief and monotheism, as it deals with the honoring of Allah Almighty for the human, and the issue of belief in account and recompense.

The surah began with the swearing-in of the holy places and the honorable places, which Allah Almighty singled out for His revelations to His prophets and messengers: Bayt Al-Maqdis, Mount Al-Tur, and Mecca.

It rebuked the infidel for his denial of the Resurrection, after that brilliant evidence that indicates the ability of the Allah of the worlds, in His creation of man in the best form and the most beautiful image. It concluded with a statement of Allah’s justice by rewarding the believers and punishing the unbelievers.
