Ashura

Ashura

Ashura is the tenth day of the month of Muharram, the day when Allah the Almighty saved our master Moses (peace be upon him) and the Israelites from Pharaoh and his soldiers.

Our master Moses schizophrenia thanks to Allah the Almighty, and then our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted and recommended his nation to fast.

In Islamic history, it marks the day”imam hussain ashura” when Hussein ibn Ali, the tribe of the Prophet Muhammad, was killed in the Battle of Karbala.

The tenth day of Muharram was named ashurah in honor of it, a pure Islamic name that the Arabs did not know in the pre-Islamic world, although they may have inherited its exaltation from the religion of Abraham (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was fasting ahsura in the Jahiliyah, and the Quraysh fasted on him, so when he presented Medina (peace and blessings be upon him), he found the Jews fasting on him, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered Muslims to fast him.

Bukhari recounted that Ibn Abbas said, “The Prophet introduced Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura and said, ‘What is this?’ They said, “This is a good day, this is the day Allah saved the Israelites from their enemy, his schizophrenia Moses, he said, ‘I am worthy of Moses from you, his schizophrenia and his command to fast.'”

The jurists differed on whether fasting aashura before the imposition of the month of Ramadan was obligatory or was it a confirmed year. Abu Hanifa and Ahmad went to al-Wajoub, and al-Shafi’i tended to say that it was only a confirmed Sunnah.

ashura meaning

The word ashur is taken from (asher) and denotes exaggeration and exaggeration, and it is originally an adjective for the tenth night and added to it today, it is said: the day of ashura muharram; that is, the day of the tenth night.

But the adjective was diverted from it to be meant from ashura date on the tenth day and not its night, and the people of science had sayings in the reason why day of ashura is named by this name; some of them said: Because it is the tenth day of Muharram, and others said.

For it is a day when Allah honored ten prophets with ten dignity, and it was said: Because it is the tenth dignity that Allah the Almighty has honored this nation with.

The ashura day is one of Allah’s remarkable days, and it has a great significance in the hearts of believers, where they invoke the victory of Allah Almighty for his prophets, and recall that it is the day when Allah (PBUH) survived Moses (peace be upon him) from Pharaoh and his soldiers.

After Allah drowned them and stopped hurting them from Moses and those who believed with him, in a scene that establishes faith in victory and empowerment in the hearts of those who are patient with their religion, Moses – peace be upon him – was fasting this day thanks to Allah – praise be to him – for his grace and bounty.

The People of the Book also magnified and fasted this day, and the Quraysh before Islam fasted on it and even made it a time to renew the Kaaba store as if the laws followed the fasting of this day, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Fasted and ordered his fasting before he imposed the fasting of the month of Ramadan; Imam Bukhari in his Saheeh took out the mother of the believers Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): (The day of Ashura was fasted by the Quraysh in the Jahiliyah.

And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted him, so when Medina offered his fast and ordered his fasting, so why Impose Ramadan to leave the day of Ashura, whoever wants to fast, and who wants to leave it.)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and Muslims fasted on the day of Ashura when they migrated to Medina before the imposition of Ramadan fasting, and then the Prophet favored them in fasting Ashura after Allah imposed on them the fasting of Ramadan.

And Imam Muslim took away from Abu Qatada – may Allah be pleased with him – in a statement that preferred to fast Ashura: (Fasting on the day of Ashura, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him).

what day is ashura?

The ashura is the tenth day of the month of Muharram, and this is what the masses of scholars went to, citing the apparent meaning of the hadiths mentioned about it, and the implied pronunciation of it.

(If I stay to meet someone who is able to fast, I will fast the ninth), and this is a clear indication that he – peace be upon him – used to fast the tenth of Muharram.

And he showed his determination to fast the ninth along with the tenth, out of his desire to differ from the Jews and Christians, as they used to single out the tenth with veneration.

what is ashura in Islam?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to Medina, and he found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, when he asked them why they fasted, they replied that it was a day when Moses (peace be upon him).

Survived and his people drowned Pharaoh and his soldiers, and Moses (peace be upon him) was fasting him; thanks to Allah (peace be upon him); the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) schizophrenia and ordered his fasting, and he said to the companions:

“You are more worthy of Moses than they fasted,” and perhaps he fasted before that because the hadith has nothing to indicate that this time was a time The beginning of the fasting of ashurah.

When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took the command to fast Ashura, it was not following the example of the Jews, but following the example of Moses (peace be upon him); it is reported from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet.

(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said in this: “I am more worthy of Moses than you, his schizophrenia, and he ordered his fasting.” (So we instructed Moses to strike with your stick the sea, and it broke apart, and all the difference was like the great toad.)

This is when Pharaoh was ignorant of Allah (peace be upon him) and grew up, so Moses (peace be upon him) decided to go out with his people; Pharaoh followed them until they reached the sea.

Allah Almighty ordered Moses (peace be upon him) to hit the sea with his stick to be divided into two parts so that Moses and his people could cross, but Pharaoh did not preach from what he saw and continued to be arrogant.

And he and his soldiers followed Moses (peace be upon him) and his people, and Allah (Almighty) drowned him and his soldiers, and Moses (peace be upon him) survived, and those who believed in him

It should be noted that it is advisable for those who fast ahsura to fast with him the ninth of Muharram, or the eleventh of it, because of the violation of the Jews.

Because they fasted the tenth alone and fasting the day before him, or the day after him, ensures that the fasting person is careful not to make the mistake that can occur when determining the first lunar month.

Ruling on fasting Ashura

Salma ibn al-Akwa (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded a man from Islam: that he who ate should fast for the rest of his day, and whoever did not eat should fast.

Today is the day of aashura” narrated by Bukhari, and many hadiths have been mentioned in the choice in the command of fasting, whoever wants to fast and who wants to leave fasting, and this choice came in the hadiths to invalidate the affirmative.

Not to invalidate the desirability, because fasting on the day of ashur was at the beginning of Islam It is a duty ordered by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that he had even ordered from eating to grab and fast, as stated in the previous hadith of Salama ibn al-Akwa, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted and ordered Muslims to fast.

Allah the Almighty has legislated for us to contradict the People of the Book by fasting the day before it, as it is stated in Musnad Ahmad, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If I surrender to a midwife of the ninth fast.

It means “day of ashura“, so the following year did not come until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, and the order came to fast the day before the ashura day and the day after.

The fasting of ashura date

is not similar to the People of the Book, because as Muslims we take the reason they have taken and it is ours in the Sharia that is true, and they have taken it while they are infidels and therefore it does not benefit them in anything.

A Muslim came out: “The people of Khyber fasted on the day of Ashura, they took it as a feast, and their women wore their ornaments and badges in it, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said that you fasted it.”

Some jurists said that he hates fasting day of ashura muharram alone, and some said that it is permissible, and the Sheikh of Islam has chosen: he does not hate fasting ashura alone, and there is no doubt that he should fast one day before or the day after.

And not fast alone, but if a man could not fast ashurah except alone, then we say that hatred for need disappears, but for no need, he should not fast alone, and this is the son of Abbas who narrated some hadiths of fasting on the day of ahsura fasting one day before and one day after with fasting aashura.

Ashura fasting ranks

Sahih Muslim reported on Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: “When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted on the day of Ashura and ordered his fasting, they said.

O Messenger of Allah, that it is a day glorified by Jews and Christians! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If next year is hopefully, we will fast on the ninth day.

He said, “Next year did not come until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died,” narrated by a Muslim.

It was reported by Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad, and Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Sunan, under the authority of Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – said: “Fast on the day of Ashura and differ on it from the Jews: fast a day before it, and a day after it.”

Also according to Imam Ahmad and Ibn Khuzaymah: “Fast a day before it or a day after it.” The levels of fasting on the day of Ashura are three, as Ibn al-Qayyim said: “The levels of his fasting are three: complete them: to fast a day before and after a day.

Followed by fasting the ninth and tenth, and most of the hadiths, followed by singling out the tenth by fasting alone. As for the ninth individual, it is from a lack of understanding of archeology.

And a failure to follow its words and methods, and it is far from the language and the law.” Al-Ma’ad was added to Ibn al-Qayyim, and Ibn Hajar mentioned these ranks in his book Fath al-Bari.

what happened on ashura?

1- The story of the day of Ashura with sunnah people

The day of ashur is one of the blessed days for the Sunnis, as it is one of the days that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recommended fasting, and the roots of the story of fasting on the day of ashura among the Sunnis goes back to the day.

When the Prophet (PBUH) met the Jews and found them fast, he asked them why they fasted, and they said that on this day Allah (may Allah be upon him) had survived Moses and his people from Pharaoh who perished with his people and soldiers.

And the Prophet of Allah Moses schizophrenia praised be to Allah and thanked him For his great bounty that he had escaped anguish, and in so doing they justified their fasting for that day.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “I am entitled to Moses from you, his schizophrenia, and he commanded his fasting,” and then he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) referred to the violation of the Jews in fasting.

In that Muslims fast one day after or one day before him, and he (PBUH) affirmed the virtue of that day and his promise of one of the best days after the day of Arafa, and this is evidence of his virtue and the maximization of his fasting.

2- The story of the day of Ashura for the Shiites

The reason why the Shiites fast for the ashura day is that it marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib”imam hussain ashura“, may Allah be pleased with them, so that on this day the Shiites hold funerals.

And show sadness and so on from the manifestations they do every year, and in doing so they believe that they are atoning for their misdeeds committed by their ancestors when they failed Hussein – may Allah be pleased with him.

Then let him alone face the armies of the Umayyads, and it was from Hussein’s prayer – may Allah be pleased with him – for their ancestors who failed him: “Oh Allah.

The people of Iraq have seduced me, deceived me, and done with my brother what they have done, Allah has distracted them and counted them in number.”

3- The story of the day of Ashura for the Jews

This day is called in Hebrew the day of “Kippur”, and the meaning of the word Kippur in Arabic is “cleansed”, and the Jews on this day commit acts that they believe cleanse them of sins.

The Jews fast on the day of”day of ashura muharram“Ashura because of its sacred place in them, which is the holiest day of the year for them, and is called the Sabbath of Hibernation as an expression of its holiness, and coincides with the Jews of the tenth day of October.

And in rabbinical Jewish beliefs, this day was descended by Moses – peace be upon him – the second time from Sinai with a tablet The Sharia, in which Allah (Almighty) forgave them.

According to their claim, for their sin committed by worshipping the calf, they called it the Day of Kippur, which corresponds to it in Arabic, the Day of Forgiveness.

when is the first day of ashura?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, says: The best fasting after Ramadan is the month of Muharram, which is Ashura”ashura date“. The meaning is that he fasts all of it from beginning to end, from the first day of it to its end.

This is the meaning of the hadith, but it is only the ninth and tenth or tenth and eleventh days of those who did not fast it all, for the Prophet ﷺ He used to fast Ashura in the pre-Islamic era, and Quraysh also used to fast.

When he came to Medina, peace, and blessings be upon him, he found the Jews fasting on it. He asked them about it and they said: It is a day on which Allah saved Moses and his people and destroyed Pharaoh and his people.

So he fasted it thanks to Allah. He is more deserving and more deserving of Moses than you, so he fasted him and commanded him to fast, so the Sunnah is to fast this day on the day of ashura

And the Sunnah is to fast a day before it or a day after it, as it was narrated from him, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: Fast a day before it and a day after it, and in the wording: a day before it or a day after it.

And in another hadith: Because I lived to meet the ninth fast, meaning: with the tenth, then this is better, to fast the tenth; Because it is a great day in which great good happened to Moses and the Muslims, and our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, fasted it.

We fast on it following the example of our Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, and in accordance with what the Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, legislated, and we fast with him a day before it or a day after it.

In violation of the Jews. And the best is the ninth with the tenth because of a hadith: Because I lived to meet with him, I would fast on the ninth. If he fasts the tenth and eleventh.

Or fasts all three, all of it is good. If he fasts the ninth, tenth, and eleventh, all of it is good, and it is contrary to the Jews. If he fasts the whole month, it is better and better.

why do sunnis fast on ashura?

It states that the introduction of fasting on the ninth day of ashurah has a ruling mentioned by the scholars, including: first: that it is intended to violate the Jews in limiting them to the tenth, second.

That the day of ahsura is intended to fast, and third: the precaution in the tenth fast for fear of the lack of the crescent and the occurrence of a mistake, so that the ninth in the number is the tenth in the same matter.

It is also reported that the main reason behind the legalization of fasting on the day of aashura

was that Allah the Almighty had saved our master Moses (peace be upon him) and his people the Israelites from the oppression and fullness of Pharaoh.

Bukhari and Muslims narrated about Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) presented Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, and he said.

What is this? This is a good day, this is a day when Allah saved the Israelites from their enemy, and Moses schizophrenia – when a Muslim thank you – and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: I am worthy of Moses from you, his schizophrenia and his command to fast.)

As well as the reason for the fasting of ashur is what is reported about Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) she said: “The day of ashura was a day fasted by the Quraysh in the pre-Islamic world, and the Messenger of Allah.

(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted him, and when Medina offered his fast and ordered the people to fast him when he imposed Ramadan he said: Whoever wills to fast and who wants to leave him” was narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

And about Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say:

“This is ashura day, and it was not written on you to fast, and I am fasting, whoever wants to fast, and whoever wants to break the fast” was narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

It is desirable for a Muslim to fast on the ninth day with the tenth day of Muharram, because of what is proven in the hadith about Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “When the Messenger of Allah fasted on the day of Ashura and ordered his fasting, they said.

O Messenger of Allah, it is a day glorified by the Jews and Christians, and he said: If the next year hopefully we fasted on the ninth day, he said: The next year did not come until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died” narrated by a Muslim.

Sahih Muslim reported on Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: “When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted on the day of Ashura and ordered his fasting, they said, O Messenger of Allah, that it is a day glorified by the Jews and Christians hopefully!

It is reported by Imam Ahmad in al-Misnad, and al-Bayhaqi in al-Sunan, about Ibn ‘Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fasting on the day of Ashura and violating the Jews: fasting one day before it.

And one day after it”, and Imam Ahmad also and Ibn Khuzimah: “Fasting one day before or one day after it”, and based on these and other hadiths, the ranks of fasting on the day of Ashura are three, where Ibn al-Qayyim said.

The ranks of his fasting are three: he completed them: to fast a day before and a day after him, followed by fasting the ninth and tenth, and on him the most hadiths, followed by the singularity of the tenth alone in fasting.

ashura fasting hadith

There are many hadiths and sayings that mention the virtue of fasting on the day of ashura date, which is as follows:

1- Abdullah ibn Abi Yazid said that he heard Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and was asked about fasting on the day of ashura, and he said: “I did not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted one day, asking for his favor over the days, except this day.

There is no month except this month, meaning Ramadan” narrated by a Muslim, and in the pronunciation: “I have not seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) investigate fasting on a day that he preferred over others except this day: the day of ashurah.”

2- According to Abu Qatada, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fasting on the day of ahsura, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him” was directed by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Turmidhi, Ahmad, and al-Bayhaqi.

3- Al-Nawawi said, “He atones for all minor sins, and his appreciation forgives all his sins except the great ones,” and then he said, “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an atonement for two years, and the day of aashura

is an atonement for a year, and if his insurance agrees to secure the angels, forgive him for the foregoing sins.

Each of these mentions is valid for atonement, if there is anything that disbelieves, if there is something that disbelieves, if he does not come across small or large, good deeds are written in him.

And grades are raised for him, and if he encounters large or large, and does not encounter small ones, please relieve him of the globules” from the Book of the Total.

5- About Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, she said: “Ashura was fasting before Ramadan, so when he came down Ramadan he was the one who wanted to fast, and who wanted to break the fast,” and in narration.

The ashura day was fasted by the Quraysh in the pre-Islamic world, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted in the pre-Islamic world, so when he introduced Medina fasted and ordered his fasting.

do shias fast on ashura

The day of ashura for the Shiites corresponds to the day on which Hussein the son of our master Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandson of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Who was killed in the battle of Karbala, and the day of ashurah coincides with the tenth day of the month of Muharram, and this day for the Shiites is a day of sorrow and weeping.

As many ceremonies and rituals are held in mourning the death of Hussein bin Ali on the anniversary of his death, and on this day they visit the holy shrine of Hussein located in Karbala.

Just as the followers of the Shiite sect do not fast on the day of ahsura, fasting on this day is hated by the Shiites, because this day is one of their sad days, in which they do not perform such rituals in grief for our master Hussein.

Son of our master Ali ibn Abi Talib – may Allah be pleased with him – as well as many imams of the Shiite sect, believe that the killing of our master Hussein made the caliphs of the Bani Umayyad celebrate this day, and revere him so it is hated to fast among the Shiites.

The rituals of Ashura day for Shiites

On the tenth day of aashura, the tenth day of Muharram, Shiites perform a series of rituals to mourn Hussein’s death, the most famous of which are the following:

dua ashura benefits

One of the virtues of ashur is that Allah the Almighty made it a time to accept repentance and answer it; for Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If you are fasting month after Ramadan the dissolution of the forbidden.

It is the month of Allah, in which there is a day when he repents on one people, and repents on other people” narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in the “Workbook”, the Tarmadi in the “Mosque” and Hassanah, and the Dharmi in the “Sunnin”.

Concerning Abu Musa al-Ashari, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: “This is a day when Allah repents of a people; make it a prayer and fasting” means the day of Ashura” directed and improved by Hafez Abu Musa al-Madini.

In it, Allah the Almighty repented of our master Adam (peace be upon him), and in him, he was brought down to earth, as stated by Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr, ‘Akrama, Qatada, and other ancestors.

Other hadiths and relics state that Ashura is the day when Allah repented of our master Yunus (peace be upon him), in which he repented of his people, and in which he commanded the Israelites to repent.

Some of the most desirable prayers, which can be prayed even on the day of Ashura, are:

how is ashura celebrated?

The Holy Prophet’s celebration of ashura included fasting and was to fast after it, as narrated by Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, he said: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah prayers and peace be upon him, came to Medina, and he found the Jews fasting on the day of ashura

They were asked about that, and they said: This is the day on which Allah appeared. Moses and the Children of Israel against Pharaoh; We fast it out of veneration for it, so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“We are more deserving of Moses than you, so he commanded his fasting.” On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, he said: “The Messenger of Allah – may Allah prayers and peace be upon him.

Came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, so he said: What is this? They said: This is a righteous day, on which Allah saved Moses and the Children of Israel from their enemy, so he fasted on it.

what is the significance of ashura?

Ashura is one of the great religious occasions that come to Muslims every year such as Ramadan fasting, Arafah Day, Night of Destiny and other forums of goodness, so the Muslim is keen by nature to get to know this day more, as it includes a number of occasions that we mention as follows:

fasting are completed by fasting the day before or the day after, as Imam Ibn al-Qayyim was told.

as a sad memory symbolizing what Hussein, the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), was subjected to.

story of imam hussain ashura

The story of the killing of Imam Hussein comes when the people of Iraq learned that Hussein did not pledge allegiance to Yazid ibn Muawiyah and sent him messengers and books calling him to pledge allegiance.

Because they did not want Yazid, his father, Othman, Omar, or Abu Bakr, they only wanted Alia and his children, and the books that reached Hussein amounted to more than five hundred books.

According to the books of Islamic heritage, including “The Beginning and the End” by Ibn Kathir, Hussein sent his cousin Muslim ibn Aqeel to investigate things and learn about the truth of the pledge of allegiance and its clarity.

When a Muslim arrived in Kufa he was sure that the people wanted Hussein, so the people swore allegiance to Hussein in the house of Han’i ibn Arwa, and when it came to Yazid ibn Muawiya in the Levant.

He was sent to Obaidullah ibn Ziad and to Basra to address this issue, and prevent the people of Kufa from going out with Hussein and did not order him.

After killing Hussein, Obaidullah ibn Ziad entered Kufa, investigated and asked until he learned that Dar Han’i ibn Arwa was the seat of Muslim ibn Aqeel and where allegiance was made.

So Muslim ibn Aqeel went out on Obaidullah ibn Ziad and besieged his palace with four thousand of his supporters, at noon, and Obaidullah ibn Ziad and their fear of the army of the Levant and their desire and terror began to leave him until only thirty men remained with him.

And the sun went down only and Muslim ibn Aqeel alone had no one with him, so he was arrested and Obaidullah ibn Ziad ordered him to kill him, and a Muslim asked him to send a message to Hussein, and Obaidullah authorized him, and this is the text of his message:

Go back to your family and the people of Kufa will not tempt you, the people of Kufa have lied to you and lied to me, not to a liar who saw.

What happened on the day of Arafat?

Obaidullah then ordered the killing of Muslim ibn Aqeel on the day of Arafa, and Muslim ibn Aqeel had previously sent to Hussein to come forward, so Hussein went out of Mecca on the day of Tarwiya.

And many companions tried to stop him and advised him not to go out such as Ibn Abbas, Ibn Umar, Ibn al-Zubair, Ibn Amr, his brother Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiya, and others.

This is Ibn ‘Umar saying to Hussein: “I am your modern interlocutor: Jibril came to the Prophet and chose the afterlife and did not want the world, and you are a few of him.

And Allah will never follow it and what Allah has distracted from you except for the one who is good for you, so he refused to return, so he embraced him and cried and said:

Allah has deposited you from a dead man,” and Sufyan narrated with true support about Ibn Abbas that he said to Hussein in this: (If it were not for him to visit – shame me and lend me – to me and to you people would have clung my hand from your head, I would not have let you go).

Abdullah ibn al-Zubair said to him: “Where are you going? to the people who killed your father and stabbed your brother?”, Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As said: “Al-Husayn hastened his fate, and Allah if I realized him what I let him go out except to conquer me.” (Narrated by Yahya ibn Mu’in with proper support.)

Al-Husayn came to the news of Muslim ibn Aqeel through the one sent by a Muslim, and Hussein set out to walk towards the road of the Levant towards Yazid, and the horses met him in Karbala led by Amr ibn Saad, Shammar ibn Dhi al-Jushin and Husayn ibn Tamim.

And he went down begging Allah and Islam to choose one of three: to walk him to the emir of the faithful (Yazid) and put his hand in his hand (because he knows that he does not like to kill him) or to leave from where he came to Medina or to catch a gap of the Muslim stomata until Allah dies.

(Narrated by Ibn Jarir from Tariq Hassan). They said: No, except for the rule of Obaidullah ibn Ziad. When al-Hurr ibn Yazid heard this (one of the leaders of Ibn Ziad), he said, “Do you not accept from these people what they offer you?”.

By Allah, if this Turk and the Daylam asked you, what would have happened to you to reply? They fathered only the rule of Ibn Ziad. So al-Hurr turned the face of his horse away and went to Hussein and his companions, and they thought that he had come to fight them.

Ao when we called them the heart of his cog and handed over to them, and then he deceived the companions of Ibn Ziad and killed them, killing two of them and then killing the mercy of Allah be upon him (Ibn Jarir Based Hassan).

The battle was unequal in number

So the owners of Hussein were killed all in his hands defending him until he remained alone, but it is many, and each one of the Kufa army wished that he had changed enough to kill Hussein so as not to be plagued by his blood.

Until a malicious man is told Shammar ibn Dhu al-Jushin threw Hussein with his spear and brought him down to the ground and they gathered on him and killed him as a happy martyr.

And it is said that Shammar ibn Dhu al-Jushin was the one who passed the head of Hussein and Sinan ibn Anas al-Nakhi and Allah knows best.

benefits of fasting ashura

Fasting on the day of ashura has great virtue and ancient sanctity and his fasting for his bounty was known among the prophets peace be upon them, and Noah and Moses fasted on the day of Ashura.

And about Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): «The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was fasting Ashura» was directed by a Muslim in his “righteousness”.

I count on Allah to atone for the year before him, the year after him, and fasting on the day of Ashura, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him” was directed by a Muslim in “Saheeh”

 benefits of fasting ashura

Allah the Almighty singled out the worship of fasting among the worships with many virtues and characteristics, including:

First: fasting is for Allah the Almighty and He rewarded Him, as proved in Bukhari (1894) and Muslim (1151) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Every work of the Son of Adam multiplies the goodness ten times to seven hundred times that Allah the Almighty said except fasting, it is for me and I reward him to let his lust and food for me.”

Second: the fasting person has two joys to rejoice, as proved in Bukhari (1904) and Muslim (1151) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The fasting person has two joys to rejoice: if he breaks his fast, he rejoices, and if his Lord receives joy in his fasting.”

Thirdly: the emptiness of the mouth of the fasting person is better to Allah than the wind of musk, as proved in Bukhari (1894) and Muslim (1151) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet.

(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “And that which Muhammad breathed with his hand to the Khalouf of the mouth of the fasting man is better to Allah the Almighty on the day of judgment than the wind of musk.”

Fourth: Allah has prepared for the people of fasting a door in Paradise from which only they can enter, as proved in Bukhari (1896) and Muslim (1152) from the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa’ad said.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In Paradise, there is a Baba from which he is told: Rayyan, from which fasting people enter on the Day of Judgment.

From which no one else enters, it is said: Where are the fasting people? They rise and no one else enters from it, and if they enter, it is closed, and no one enters from it.”

Fifth: Whoever fasts for one day for the sake of Allah has kept his face away from the fire for seventy years, as proved in Bukhari (2840); and a Muslim (1153) from the hadith of Abu Sa’id al-Khudari said.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No slave will fast one day for the sake of Allah unless Allah on that day distances his face from the fire seventy autumns.”

Sixth: Fasting is a paradise «any protection» from fire, it is proved in the two truths of the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: «Fasting is a paradise».

Narrated by Ahmad (4/22), and al-Nisa (2231) from the hadith of Uthman ibn Abi al-As said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: «Fasting is a paradise of fire, as the paradise of one of you from fighting».

Seventh: Fasting atones for sins, as stated in the hadith of Huzaifa at Bukhari (525) and Muslim (144) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

The strife of a man in his family, his money, and his neighbor is atoned for by prayer, fasting, charity, the command of virtue, and the prevention of vice.”

Eighth: Fasting intercedes for its owner on the day of judgment, as Imam Ahmad (6589) narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said.

Fasting and the Qur’an intercede for the slave on the day of judgment, fasting says: Any Lord who is forbidden by food and lusts by day intercedes with me. The Qur’an says: I forbade him to sleep at night, and he interceded with me in it. He said, ‘They will intercede.'”

Ninth: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fasting on the day of Arafa, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him, the year after him, and fasting on the day of Ashura, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him.”

why is ashura important?

Ashura day is the tenth day of the month of Muharram in the Hijri calendar, and it is called by Muslims “the day of ashura” because it is an Islamic name, and many historical events occurred in it.

With the passage of time, they are considered milestones in the history of mankind, and fasting on the day of ahsura is considered a year.

And fasting on the day of ashur atones for the sins of the past year for the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: «.. Fasting on the day of Ashura is counted on Allah to atone for the year before him.”

Some historians have spoken of many events that took place on the tenth of Muharram, which is called the “day of ashura“, including:

1- Moses survived drowning on the day of Ashura

One of the important facts that took place in ashur and was told to us by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the survival of our master Moses (peace be upon him) from drowning.

Where Pharaoh was arrogant and arrogant in the land, and he called out to his people and said to them: I am your Supreme Lord. He disbelieved in Allah the Almighty and entrusted the children of Israel.

So our master Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered his people to go out, and Pharaoh followed them, and the revelation came on that great day to our master Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) to strike the sea with his stick.

Allah the Almighty said, “So we instructed Moses to strike with your stick the sea, and it broke apart, and all the difference was like the great toad” (Surah al-Shu’ara) (63).

The sea was divided into two parts; one on the right and one on the north, each of which looked like a great water mountain, and between them became a dry road and a paved land.

When Pharaoh saw this great verse and the eternal miracle of our master Moses, peace and blessings be upon him, he did not preach, nor did he consider, but he went into his tyranny.

And went on with his soldiers to follow our master Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) and his people, but Allah the Almighty remedied our master Moses (peace be upon him) with his kindness.

And tortured Pharaoh and those tyrants who were with him, and Allah the Almighty drowned him in that sea and made him a verse to be recited over time and eons, and Allah saved our master Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who believed with him from the Israelites.

Allah the Almighty said, “We have saved the Israelites from humiliating torment” (Surah al-Dukhan) (30). This is the torment with which Allah punished the people of Pharaoh who were forced and arrogant and did not preach what our Lord Moses (peace and blessings be upon him) had written.

Pharaoh remedied it at the last moment when he oversaw the drowning, saying in time-out and waste: “I believed that there was no Allah except the one whom I had believed in the children of Israel.

And Allah the Almighty replied to him by saying, ‘Now that I disobeyed before and I was one of the spoilers,'” Surat Yunus (91). Allah the Almighty says, “And as we dispersed you by the sea, we rescued you and drowned the Pharaoh’s family as you looked” (Surat al-Baqarah) (50).

Pharaoh did not believe in Allah the Almighty as Lord, nor did he believe in our master Moses, peace be upon him, as a prophet and messenger, but he was saying to his people: What I have taught you from Allah other than me.

He is overwhelmed, forced, and disbelieved, but Allah the Almighty is on the lookout for all who are arrogant and arrogant, and one of his characteristics is that he breaks the backs of the Titans.

2- Martyrdom of Imam Hussein on the Day of Ashura

On the tenth day of the month of Muharram, the year 61 of the Hijra, a tragic and tragic incident took place that afflicted Muslims and filled their hearts with sorrow, sorrow, and bitterness, and on Friday, the tenth of the month of Muharram.

Our master Imam Abu Abdullah al-Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib, grandson of our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the son of his daughter Fatima al-Zahra al-Batoul – may Allah be pleased with them – was killed by an unjust group.

Imam Hussein, the son of fifty-six years old, was martyred, which our Prophet Sayyid and his brother said: “Hassan and Hussein are the masters of the youth of the people of Paradise.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) called on Hassan and Hussein and said, “Oh Allah, I love them, and I love them,” and the Prophet said of them, “They are Rihantai from the world.”

Al-Bukhari recounted from Abdullah ibn Umar that a man from Iraq asked him about the mahram in the pilgrimage that kills flies and said: “The people of Iraq ask about killing flies, and they killed the son of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah.”

3- Noah survived the flood in Ashura

On the tenth day of Muharram, Allah saved the ship of our master Noah from the flood, and our master Noah (peace be upon him) was the first messenger sent to the people of the infidels and kept calling them to Islam.

For nine hundred and fifty years they lied to him, cursed him, and sometimes beat him until he fainted, so Allah (SWT) inspired him to make the ark before the flood came and spread the earth.

And before the Almighty sent rain to overflow in it, and the water exploded from it and gathered, drowning the infidels of the people of our master Noah and saving the believers.

He had believed with our master Noah about eighty people between men and women, and Allah the Almighty commanded him to make his ship and ride it with him.

And those who believed and take with him from each race of beings two males and females, and Allah the Almighty sent water from heaven and contrary to custom, the earth took out its water for forty days.

Since our master Noah, peace be upon him, was making the ship as the command came from Allah, his people would pass in front of him and mock him, until the order came to ride in the ship.

For him and those who believed with him, our master Noah asked his son Canaan to believe with him and ride in the ship to survive the drowning but he refused.

He said to him, as stated in his saying, “And Noah called his son and he was in isolation, my son, ride with us and do not be with the unbelievers”, Surah Hud: Verse 42.

And his son Canaan refused to believe in Allah the Almighty and follow his father our master Noah, as Allah said: “He said I will shelter to a mountain that will infallible me from the water, he said that there is no capital today from the command of Allah.

Except for the womb and the wave prevented them from drowning”, and thus refused to be a survivor, and Allah the Almighty destroyed him. They drowned, and Noah and those with him survived on the ship, and that was on the day of Ashura.

4- The Kaaba cladding on the day of Ashura

The cladding of the Holy Kaaba is one of the most important manifestations of reverence and honor for the Holy House of Allah, and the history of the Kaaba is linked to the history of the Kaaba itself.

So Muslims were interested in the cladding of the Holy Kaaba, its industry, and its creativity in it, and raced for this great honor until they made the day of its replacement each year a majestic celebration like no other.

Some scholars and historians have talked about events that took place on the day of Ashura, such as that the Kaaba was clothed before Islam on the day of Ashura and then became clothed on the day of the suicide.

And they began to baptize it in Dhu al-Qa’da and hung its cladding to about half of it, and then they cut it so that the house becomes like the body of the forbidden, if people come on the day of the suicide the new cladding is clothed.

Allah repentance on our master Adam on the day of Ashura

Another of these important events narrated by history books about the day of Ashura is that on this day Allah repented of our master Adam.

And it was said: It is the day when our master Adam was brought down to earth, and about the repentance of our father Adam Allah the Almighty says: (And Adam disobeyed his Lord), and Allah the Almighty said.

Adam received from his Lord the words of a repentant on him that he is the merciful repentant”, and Allah the Almighty told him about him and our mother Eve that they said: “Our Lord has wronged us ourselves, and if you do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will be losers.”

5- The descent of our master Adam (peace be upon him)

from heaven to earth was by order of Allah the Almighty to achieve the year of subjugation in the earth, and after the descent of Adam (peace be upon him) and his husband to the earth began to rebuild.

And repaired it and carried Eve from Adam (peace be upon him) and gave birth to Abel, Cain, and other children and offspring who in turn reproduced and performed their mission in the reconstruction and repair of the earth.

Al-Hafiz ibn Rajab stated in Lataif al-Ma’arif: It is true from Abu Ishaq’s hadith about al-Aswad ibn Yazid that he said: “I asked ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr about fasting on the day of Ashura? He said, “The forbidden month of Allah the deaf in which he repents of Adam (peace be upon him), if you can only pass through his silence, do so.”

It was stated at Tirmidhi that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to a man: “If you are fasting a month after the Ramadan of the dissolution of the forbidden, there will be a day when Allah repents of a people and repents of others.”

6- The Invasion of Dhu al-Raqqa in Ashura

On the day of ashur, the raid of Dhu al-Raqaa took place in the fourth year of the Hijra, where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) left Medina with seven hundred fighters who wanted tribes from Najd.

Namely the sons of Muharib and the sons of Thaaloub of Bani Ghatfan, who had betrayed the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and killed seventy preachers whom the Prophet had sent to preach the religion of Islam and teach people goodness.

After the polytheists were prepared to fight the Prophet and his companions when they learned of his departure and the convergence of the two parties, Allah threw terror into the hearts of the tribes of the polytheists and they fled.

Leaving behind their women, so there was no war and fighting and Allah his prophet and those with him who were companions did enough of the evil of these infidel crowds.

It was called the same patch because the companions wrapped rags on their legs because of the wounds that hit their feet in this raid and their nails feel when they collided with stones and rocks.

what is the difference between ashura and muharram?

The tenth day of the month of Muharram is considered the ashura day for Muslims, and it is one of the days that must be fasted according to most of people of knowledge, and there are many hadiths that mention the virtue of Ashura and the reward for fasting it.

can you fast one day for ashura

Regarding the ruling on the fasting day of ashura muharram alone, Dar al-Iftaa explained that it is permissible to fast on the day of  ashura alone, that is: without fasting the day before it.

And there is nothing wrong with this by-law because it did not want to forbid fasting alone, but it is advisable to fast on the ninth day of the month of Muharram with the day of aashura.

The fatwa quoted Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) as saying: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted on the day of Ashura and ordered his fasting. They said: O Messenger of Allah, it is a day glorified by the Jews and Christians.

And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If next year hopefully we fasted on the ninth day,” he said: The next year did not come until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died. (Narrated by Muslim).

Concerning Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, and he said, “What is this?” Bukhari took it out in “Saheeh.”

As for the virtue of fasting on the day of Ashura, Abu Qatada (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fasting on the day of Arafa.

I count on Allah to atone for the year before him, the year after him, and fasting on the day of Ashura, I count on Allah to atone for the year before him” was directed by a Muslim in his “Saheeh.”

Ruling on Fasting the Ninth day

The fatwa clarified that it is advisable to fast on the ninth day of the month of Muharram with the day of Ashura because the introduction of the ninth fast on Ashura has a ruling mentioned by the scholars.

Including the first: that it is intended to violate the Jews in limiting them to the tenth, and the second: that the day of Ashura is to be reached by fasting.

And third: the precaution in the tenth fast for fear of the lack of the crescent and the occurrence of a mistake, so that the ninth in the number is the tenth in the same matter.

In the end, The day of ashura is one of the great days of Allah, so it is good for the Muslim on this day to strive for several things, including Fasting on the day of ashurah : It is advisable for a Muslim to fast on the day of ahsura, and fasting the day before it.

Or the day after, for what has been proven about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): (If I remain to be able to fast the ninth), Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him).

Stated that fasting on the day of aashura is on three levels, completed by fasting the ninth, tenth and eleventh of Muharram, then fasting the ninth and tenth, and then fasting Only the tenth one, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him).

Said not to hate the individuals of Ashura by fasting. Expansion Day of Ashur: The day of ashura is a blessed occasion that is desirable to revive with worship and other obedience, and it is better for the Muslim to expand it on the parents, surrogates, and the poor.
